This may be a strange post for people that don't believe in an afterlife or in other beings being present in your life (other than the living). I have had a few experiences in my life that lead me to believe that there is more out there. I also had a Great Aunt who was a psychic. She used to help various police agencies find bodies and other such things. My dad saw her go into a trance where she became the person she was channeling, which made him a believer. She passed when I was about 16, but her impact has stayed with me. She used to always tell me that I had the "gift". For some reason this always scared me. She was always talking about how she saw various dead people she knew the night before, etc...it always seemed like something that would freak me out. She told me many times to not be scared and to be open and these interesting events would happen. Because of this I always tried to be not so open and a little scared...could I handle a visit from the dead???
Ever since I have lived on my own (really on my own, not with a smelly boy), which was about 21 I have had about 5 experiences that have made me a believer. The first experience I will leave for another day...Instead I am going to exlpain what happended last night.
I was exhasuted and went to bed at about 11. I was laying on my stomach and was drifting off to sleep. All of a sudden I could see bright flashes in the total darkness (my eyes were closed). It then felt like someone was over me and put both of their hands through my hair from the nape of my neck up to the crown of me head and then slowly pulled their hands out to let my hair fall back into place. I was scared and also felt like I couldn't move or open my eyes. I also didn't want to because it didn't feel scary. I tried to start a conversation in my head with whoever was there (I assumed it was my aunt), but then I just felt something wrap itslef around me. I also felt like my head was being pushed deeper into my pillow. This made me panick because I was worried someone was trying to smother me. This stopped and then it felt like something was lying on my upper back (this was a favourite spot for my old cat Marley to sleep). After what felt like a few minutes, but was probably only 30 seconds, I was able to open my eyes. I had been sleeping for only 15 minutes. I was a little scared, but also felt totally at peace and was able to fall back asleep and have a dreamless night.
I do live in an old building, so there could be someone wandering around in there sitll (should do research on the building perhaps)or it could have been a dead relative or Marley just coming back to check on things. I am not sure what it was, but it was definitely an experience and not my first one. I realized after that I had been trying to smell very intently because I wanted to see if I could smell my aunt's perfume, which I would recognize right away, but there was no discernable scent that I could pick up (that probably also rules out the cat then too!!!)
Maybe I am just going insane! That is always an option too!
